Corporate Housing in Houston's Energy Corridor

Most of our energy-industry guests stay west. Here's why — and how to find the right furnished rental in the Energy Corridor.

Corporate Housing in Houston's Energy Corridor

The Energy Corridor is Houston's second downtown. If your office is BP, Shell, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Citgo, or any of the 300+ energy-industry companies west of Beltway 8, staying west saves you an hour of driving a day.

Why the Energy Corridor makes sense for long corporate stays

A typical relocation assignment or project engagement runs 60–180 days. Commuting from Downtown or the Galleria across I-10 twice a day for six months is exhausting and expensive. Staying in or near the Energy Corridor drops that commute to 10 minutes.

Getting around the Energy Corridor

  • I-10 runs through it east-to-west.
  • Beltway 8 and Highway 6 bracket it north-to-south.
  • Memorial Drive gives you a scenic non-highway route into town.

Traffic patterns: I-10 inbound at 7–9am and outbound at 4–7pm are the pinch points. Plan around them.

Neighborhoods inside the Energy Corridor

The Energy Corridor proper

Immediately around Eldridge Parkway and I-10. Closest to BP, Shell, and the other campuses. Newer apartment stock and corporate-feel.

Memorial

Just east. Leafier, more residential, excellent schools. A good "home" feel on a long stay.

Katy / Cinco Ranch

30–45 minutes west. If you have a family and need top-rated schools, Katy is hard to beat. Lower housing cost per square foot than inside the Beltway.

Briar Forest & Westchase

A little south. More apartment options, often cheaper.

Typical costs

For an unfurnished market rate we always point to the latest Houston Association of Realtors data. For furnished corporate housing in the Energy Corridor, expect:

  • 2 bedroom: $190–$245/night at 30+ nights
  • 3 bedroom: $245–$325/night at 30+ nights
  • 4 bedroom / single-family home: $285–$395/night at 30+ nights

Monthly rates drop meaningfully at the 30 and 90-night tiers.

Amenities that matter for energy-industry stays

  • Private garage / dedicated parking. You're driving every day.
  • Home office or second bedroom. Most projects involve remote-work days.
  • Fenced backyard. If your family is joining you for part of the stay.
  • Fast Wi-Fi. Double-check. You'll be on Teams or Zoom calls all day.
  • In-unit laundry. Non-negotiable past 30 days.

What about Downtown?

Downtown is wonderful — see our Downtown Houston extended stay guide — but only if your office is actually downtown. Commuting from Downtown to the Energy Corridor is 45–75 minutes each way. Not worth it.

FAQ

Is the Energy Corridor safe for a long stay?

Yes. The Energy Corridor and surrounding neighborhoods (Memorial, Briar Forest, Katy) are among the most common corporate housing placements in Houston and carry strong safety profiles for residential areas.

Which Energy Corridor neighborhood is closest to BP Westlake?

BP's Westlake campus sits just off Dairy Ashford and Memorial Drive. Memorial and the Energy Corridor proper both put you 5–15 minutes from the front door.

Does the Energy Corridor have walkable restaurants?

Parts of it — particularly around Park 10 and the Citycentre area — are walkable. Overall, expect to drive for most meals. Citycentre is a good weekend destination.

Can I bring my family for part of the stay?

Many guests do. We can help you book a larger home specifically for the weeks your family is in town.

How far is it from the Energy Corridor to Downtown?

About 18 miles. Off-peak: 20 minutes. Rush hour: 50–75 minutes.
