The Monthly Rental Checklist: What to Pack vs. What's Already There
A monthly furnished rental is not an empty apartment. Here's exactly what comes with the home vs. what you should pack for a 30–90 night Houston stay.

Our guests ask us some version of this every week: "What's in the home, and what do I need to bring?" Overpacking is exhausting, underpacking is expensive. Here's the definitive list.

What to pack
Clothing (Houston-specific)
- Summer (April–October): Light layers, breathable fabrics, one warm top for over-air-conditioned offices. Humidity is real.
- Winter (November–March): Mid-weight jacket, a warm layer, rain gear. It genuinely does get cold 2–3 weeks a year.
- Always: Comfortable walking shoes, rain shoes, a fold-up umbrella.
Electronics
- Laptop, charger, second monitor if you want one.
- Phone charger and a spare.
- Headphones.
- A small power strip.
Personal care
- Prescription medications + a paper list.
- Preferred skincare, sunscreen (year-round in Houston).
- A backup pair of glasses.
Work
- Work badge / access cards.
- Printer paper and a small printer if you print often (we don't supply these).
- A dedicated folder of IDs, insurance cards, and important docs.
For families
- Kids' favorite pillow or blanket.
- Car seats (FAA rules permit them on planes).
- A few familiar toys — new homes feel less strange with familiar objects.
For pet guests
- Food for the first week + a shipping plan.
- Leash, collar, vaccination records.
- Crate if your dog crates.
- Familiar bed.

FAQ

Yes. Every Houston Extended Stay home is stocked with a full cookware and dinnerware set sized to the sleeps capacity.
Will there be toilet paper and soap when I arrive?
Yes — enough for the first week, plus hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Replenishment is on you after that.

HEB is Texas's favorite grocery chain, and multiple HEBs sit inside every neighborhood we work in. Kroger is a strong runner-up.
